Earlier this year, I made the decision to register for FinCon (an annual financial conference for personal finance bloggers, authors, and podcasters).
I actually launched Penny Wise Dollar Wiser (February 1st) and registered for FinCon (February 10th) in the same exact month and just a few days apart.
It might seem a bit crazy that I would register for FinCon when PWDW was only 9 days old, but I promise I did think about it long and hard before I pulled the trigger.
Here are the reasons why I registered for FinCon:
It Put Me on the Clock
When I registered for FinCon, I knew I had exactly 8 months to try and get PWDW in a presentable state.
With FinCon just a week away, I am proud to say that I have done exactly that. All it took was 3 site design changes (more like complete overhauls), 1 slight logo revision, and all 8 months of working on it.
Because “Birds of a Feather Flock Together”
Though I am new to the blogging scene, I am no stranger to personal finance. I absolutely love listening, talking, and reading about it.
While my wife supports me and is with me on our journey to financial freedom, she can only take so much of me talking about personal finance and entrepreneurship. 😉
FinCon gives me the perfect opportunity (excuse) to have great conversations and discussions with like-minded people around those very topics for 4 straight days.
I am looking forward to meeting, connecting, and learning from everyone there.
Surrounding Myself With People Like Me and Ahead of Me
Similar to but slightly different than the reason I gave above.
People in the same field and industry will not only have similar interests, but also similar issues and struggles.
In order to get better and improve PWDW, I need to learn how to do exactly that. What better way to do that than to talk to and learn from people that are either going through similar challenges or have overcome them already.
And if I am somehow able to help someone who might be struggling with something I figured out, I will be sure to pay it forward as well.
Are you going to FinCon next week? Hope to see you there!
